how many will you read?
Sunshine State Readers
Each year the Florida Association for Media in Education (FAME) selects a list of fifteen books for each school age group: Grades 1-2, 3-5, 6-8, and High School. These books are nominated by and voted for by the public for their excellence and quality, and many are required reading in schools. We challenge you to read as many as you can – and we have multiple copies of each of them at your libraries!

Frequently Asked Questions
Questions about the STAX theme and Organic Blocks plugin? Well, we’ve got answers.
How can I get a library card?
Come down to your library with a current photo ID that shows a valid address in Putnam County or one of the counties we have a reciprocal agreement with (Alachua, St. Johns, Volusia, Marion, Levy, Clay, and Flagler). If your ID doesn’t have the required address, then proof of residency in one of those counties is required in the form of an official piece of mail to your current address, such as a utility bill or bank statement.
How much does it cost to attend an event at the library?
We are funded by the taxpayer, and everything at the library with the exclusion of printing and copying is completely free. We never have and never will charge for our programs, and unless stated otherwise we will provide everything you need to attend the program so you can come and enjoy it without worrying.
What can I do at my library?
Read books, of course…but there’s so much more! In addition to lots of fun free programs like sewing, painting, STEAM for kids, crafting, book clubs and more, we’ve also got lots of great things to check out like comics, manga, DVDs, and newspapers. The library is also a great place to just relax, and it’s one of the few places that you can come, hang out, charge your devices or use one of our PCs, and enjoy WiFi absolutely free.
Speaking of costs, what do you charge for?
We assess a late fee of $0.20 per day for most materials past their due date, though some materials like bestsellers are $0.50 a day. Black and white copies are $0.20 per page, per side, and color copies are $0.40 per page, per side. Lost or damaged items are assessed based on the item’s cost to replace.
